JCCC Chinese New Year Celebration: Thank You!

Last Friday, CCAI’s Joyous Chinese Cultural Center celebrated the Chinese New Year in high form!  Families fought rush hour from all over Colorado to help ring in the Year of the Snake with their children.  Watching all of our beautiful JCCC students perform their songs and dances that they had been working so hard on; You could not help but smile and maybe even get a little bit teary-eyed!  For some of our oldest students, this Chinese New Year celebration was their last as JCCC students as they prepare to head off to college.  It is hard to believe that it has been 16 1/2 years since JCCC opened its doors in September 1996.  To see our students graduate high school and go on to do great things in college…it is a beautiful thing and we are proud beyond words.

The Joyous Chinese Cultural Center and all of our events would not be possible if it wasn’t for the fantastic, passionate, dedicated parents who drop off and pick up their amazing children every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday!  If you’ve just started or have been making the trip for 16 1/2 years, thank you!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to teach your children and learn what joy and love feels like.

As always, please visit our website, www.joyouscenter.org, and find us on Facebook.  We want to stay in touch!

Happy Chinese New Year!  We will see you soon!

China 101: A Field Trip to JCCC

Last Thursday, CCAI was taken over by 50 first graders on a class field trip to visit our Joyous Chinese Cultural Center for a quick tour around China!

JCCC field trips are just another outreach program we offer for local communities.  The wonderful ladies are JCCC work with many groups, from elementary to high school students, and have designed fun programs built specifically to help students learn and experience Chinese culture in a unique, Chinese atmosphere by participating in fun, interactive activities, tailored to meet the students’ particular interests and needs.

Last Thursday, the kids got the chance to:

  1. Make and taste some Chinese food
  2. Create some fun, traditional paper-cut projects
  3. Learn to write Chinese calligraphy
  4. Learn some Chinese Kung Fu

During the visit, our Twitter tweeted some of our favorite quotes from the kids.  The kids were hilarious!

Our office always gets so giddy when field trips come to visit.  It was so much fun!  Thank you to Renaissance Elementary School’s 1st Grade class for such a fun afternoon!

Parent Orientation for New Students

Parents of new students of the 2012-2013 school year joined an orientation on Saturday (8/25) to learn more about the Joyous Chinese Cultural Center.  They met with their children’s teachers, visited classrooms, and had the opportunity to ask questions.  The parents were very impressed by the mission, the fun courses, and the quality of teachers at JCCC.  “We are so lucky that JCCC is here to support our children!”  a mom shared with us.

Established in 1996, JCCC has been playing a very important role in providing systematic and fun Chinese cultural education as well as emotional support to not only adopted children, but their siblings and their parents as well through the speaking and writing of Chinese, Chinese cooking, Chinese dances, Chinese art, and Chinese games.  For more information on JCCC’s on-site education as well as its long distance learning program, please visit www.joyouscenter.org or call us at 303-221-6688 ext 202.
