First of all, please help us celebrate the 13 families winding their way through airports today to bring home 15 children! We are so excited to welcome home these families and their precious children.
This past weekend we hosted our first post adoption camp/conference, Parenting the Hurt Child, and it was a great success! While the parents focused on intensive training in Trust Based Relational Intervention®, the kids joined for a camp-style weekend of learning, games, group work, and play. We hope families went home with tools to help their children grow! One parent shared, “I love this class. I wish there was more! If you want to improve your parenting skills, take this class!”
Are you interested in a similar class? Stay tuned for our next 8-week session ofParenting the Hurt Child, planned for this fall. The class is open to all families, whether they adopted through CCAI or not, who are interested in learning more about working with children who have difficult pasts.
Some of our teens and their parents were on Rocky Mountain PBS this week, helping support Rocky Mountains PBS’s great television programming by manning the phones during their telethon!
Thanks to our friends at Adopteen, 9 teens and 3 parents gathered together Tuesday evening for a unique experience behind the camera. They didn’t take too many photos, but here are a few they shared on their Facebook page!
Did you see them? We thought they did a fantastic job!
The Never Alone Foundation’s 1st Annual Family Jam made its debut this weekend in Lakewood, CO. It was a beautiful Colorado day and the Family Jam welcomed hundreds of families to hang out and enjoy the Colorado music scene, surrounded by the laughter of children bouncing in the jumbo bouncing castle, blowing giant bubbles, and transforming their little faces into tigers and butterflies (don’t worry, it was just face paint!).
Founded in honor of four beautiful souls, Laurel, Hannah, Zoe and Lucy, the Never Alone Foundation invests in families connected with the international adoption community. Drawing from the foundation’s reservoir, we bridge the financial gap to assist parents in bringing orphaned children home. We also offer aid to parents shouldering significant medical expenses as they endeavor to bring their youngsters to full physical health. And finally, Never Alone provides financial assistance allowing families to access the unique post-placement services and support that help children with adoption challenges learn to be born in their parents’ hearts.
